The helpful and friendly staff and good food.
We had a largeish comfortable room which suited us very well. The location was our choice and while we missed the mail entrance on the way in, but saw the back entrance sign easily.
While our booking stated clearly that we would arrive on a Monday, the hotel (manual) record showed that we are expected on the following day. However there was no problem about a roon being available. Also a small point, the height of the tables in the conservatory did not match the chairs! Not serious.
Breakfast was good, staff friendly although there was some confusion about paying for the rooms, possibly due to a lack of clarity on the website, nice area.
A little shabby, no sign of any management in the evening - just bar staff. Our family room was directly over the function room so the very loud rock band sounded as if they were in bed with us. Mind you, you could hear them all over the hotel anyway. Fortunately we were in the mood for a party,, but if we'd gone for a quient country weekend we would have been very very unhappy. Possibility of noisy functions not mentioned when we booked.
Did not think it represented particularly good value for money as cost seemed high
good food, very friendly helpful staff
could do with a little upgrading generally
I was in a ground floor annexe room. It was extremely noisy from overhead guests moving around either directly above me or further along. Later night returners, after 11pm, car parking outside the front, unavoidably also kept me awake. Could this become a no parking area, all vehicles to use the rear car park?
The staff were lovely, and very welcoming. Hotel was quiet and in a lovely setting. We requested a ground floor room and no problem getting this. Room was a little tired in decor but felt very homely and was clean. We ate in the resturant and was given the choice of the bar meal menu and the resturant menu and was able to choose from either one. We ate all three courses something not often done, and went to bed suitible satisfied. When asked if they had hot chocolate the young lady went out of her way to find us some. Breakfast superb. Will stay again.
The bathroom. This needs to be updated, shower didn't work, tiles falling off, very small. Room. very out dated.
The breakfasts were extremely good nice decor downstairs upstairs dated but clean and comfortable
There was nothing to dislike really
Room was adequate size. The breakfasts were really good, filled us up a treat for the day ahead. We had an evening meal as well on one of the days which was also very nice and good value for money. The location is convenient for places like York and Scarborough and is also excellent for lovely walks nearby.
The best way to describe East Ayton Lodge is "slightly shabby" around the edges. It looks as if it needs a jolly good make-over and updating, especially in the bedroom and bathroom areas. The dining area seemed to have a problem with flies, lots of them which isn't very pleasant when trying to eat breakfast/evening meal. Sitting in the garden was lovely but when looking back at the Lodge all you can see is the weeds overhanging the gutters, paint peeling off and misted up windows in the conservatory where they need replacing. Shame really because it wasn't cheap!
This was a pleasant hotel, with super staff. Meals were excellent. A great deal for the price.
The Staff were very friendly and They were very child friendly. The food in the hotel was of a very high standard. The hotel was not as good as it looked on the internet .
I would have preferred our hotel room to have been actually inside the main hotel. We would have preferred not to have had several stairs to climb. The manager needs to take lessons in customer relations.
Friendly staff, large food portions well cooked, could accomadate off the menu requests
No menu specials
The hotel was in a good location, the standard was fair, however a wedding took place on one of the days of our stay, this spoiled our weekend completely. They do not allow stag parties, and claim to be in a quiet village location. The wedding took over the whole of the hotel, we had to find somewhere else to eat. We could not use any of the facilities, in fact it was as if we were imposing, to be shunted into a tv room was at most insulting. You should take this up with them, this weekend was intended as a rest after illness, as you can see it was not a rest, in fact it made me worse. I was glad when I left.
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful in situations which arose during our stay
